TexProtects grew out of the advocacy effort of the Child Abuse
Prevention Advocacy Commission (CAPAC), a Dallas based umbrella group organized specifically to advocate for
strengthening CPS, especially in the North Texas Region.
CAPAC has a successful track record in organizing, training advocates and spurring them into action.
Madeline McClure founded the organization, CAPAC along with Julia Easley, Debra Decker and others.
CAPAC now has an active membership of over 300 members from the Dallas-Ft. Worth region and an additional
220 statewide members that receive, circulate and act on advocacy action alerts for a total of over 520
active advocates statewide. These members respond to advocacy alerts stemming from the joint PCAT and CAPAC
groups legislative agendas, which were informed by the results of a statewide survey sent to thousands of
child-focused professionals and volunteers across the state. |
