TexProtects CEO Madeline McClure nominated for 'Texan of the Year'!

TexProtects CEO Madeline McClure

The 85th Texas Legislature was a landmark session for TexProtects and our goals of protecting children and strengthening families. Today, we were delighted to learn of a wonderful recognition of that work – our founding CEO, Madeline McClure, was nominated for The Dallas Morning News' "Texan of the Year" award!

The nomination came from Dallas philanthropist and 2016 Texan of the Year finalist Cecilia Boone. In an op-ed published today on the Morning News' website, Boone wrote of Madeline:

"Her passion, energy and dedication for protecting children are legendary. ... It takes a very special person to work doggedly to design legislation that can address a variety of programs, approaches and departments to, first, try to prevent these tragedies, but also to prevent child abuse and then to heal the abused and neglected children."

"This is such an honor and very kind of Cecilia Boone," Madeline said. "But the reality is that it takes the entire staff of TexProtects, our Board of Directors, the Child Protection Roundtable advocates and our Legislative Champions to make progress in fighting child abuse and neglect. All of our front-line CPS staff and Home Visiting providers that respond to abuse reports and prevent child maltreatment are my Texans of the Year every day."

Beginning Dec. 19, the Morning News editorial board will begin publishing editorials announcing the nine finalists they select, and on Dec. 31 they will publish a special Sunday section about the Texan of the Year.
