TexProtects In the News: Drop in Texas child maltreatment deaths in FY 2017

On March 1, the Department of Family and Protective Services released its report on child maltreatment deaths in Texas for Fiscal Year 2017, with the highlight being a drop in deaths from the previous year. Our Associate Director of Public Policy Dimple Patel talked with the Austin American-Statesman about possible causes for that drop, including better working conditions at CPS (for which TexProtects successfully advocated during the 2017 Texas Legislative Session). She also discussed what needs to happen next: continued ramping up of prevention programs that could bring those numbers even lower.
