TexProtects releases HOPES report

TexProtects releases HOPES report

In 2016, with the assistance of TexProtects, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas secured a $3.4 million grant to implement the state's HOPES (Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Support) program in Dallas County.

Today, TexProtects releases its report The Opportunity to Invest in Dallas County Children: How Project HOPES Gives Hope for a Better Tomorrow for Dallas Families.

HOPES is a community-based child abuse prevention program that empowers communities to tailor strategies to their population needs that strengthen protective factors and reduce risk factors for Texas families.

The Dallas County HOPES program is implemented around the TexProtects-created Child Protection and Family Strengthening Ecosystem© model for connecting families to community-based home visiting programs and other resources to prevent child maltreatment and support child well-being.

"In my role as the Director of Research at TexProtects, I have had the opportunity to witness a variety of efforts to provide support for families and improve outcomes for the youngest members of our community," said the report's lead author, TexProtects Director of Research Dr. Dana Booker. "The reality is that these efforts need to be expanded to ensure that we, as a community of advocates, are reaching families with young children who could benefit. I am very HOPEful that through the use of research and best practice, Texas will expand our investments to ensure that children, from hard places, have opportunities for positive life outcomes."
