Adrianna Cuellar Rojas assumed the role of CEO at TexProtects in September 2023. With a diverse background in philanthropy, the nonprofit sector, and policy/systems change, she has been dedicated to supporting Texas families and children throughout her career. Notably, Adrianna played a pivotal role in launching the grantmaking strategy for the Hector and Gloria Lopez Foundation before joining TexProtects. Her previous roles include serving as President and CEO of United Ways of Texas from 2014 to 2021 and at The Meadows Foundation where she facilitated investments in nonprofit organizations across the state, advanced strategic initiatives, and cultivated partnerships between 1997 and 2013. Prior to working in philanthropy, Adrianna worked in governmental relations for several state agencies including the Texas Youth Commission and the Texas Education Agency, as well as an interim legislative committee, the Texas Commission on Children and Youth. Adrianna holds a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School at the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity University.
Adrianna has been fortunate to have spent her a career in jobs where she met people every day, bringing about positive change in communities of all sizes across the state. She has witnessed first-hand the passion, dedication and hard work of Texans coming together to support their neighbors. For that reason, Adrianna can’t possibly choose one place as her favorite in Texas – so many good people coming together to do good work across our state!
Kerrie Judice, Lserves as the Director of Policy and Advocacy at TexProtects, joining the team in January 2020. With a focus on advocating for effective strategies to strengthen families and reduce child removals, Kerrie has dedicated her career to championing children and families. Her experience includes eight years at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services working for Child Protective Services (CPS) and a year in the Texas Senate as a Policy Analyst. Kerrie believes in the collective responsibility to promote child welfare and safety, striving for an effective child welfare system that serves children and families. Kerrie holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Social Work from Lamar University.
Kerrie’s favorite place in Texas is anywhere in Austin that serves queso because she loves to spend time with her favorite people over delicious food.
Suzie Ruel joined TexProtects in September 2022 and serves as the Vice President of Strategy and Finance, leveraging her passion for bettering the lives of Texas families. With a background in nonprofit marketing, organizational management, and board relations, she plays a crucial role in maintaining the organization’s financial health and driving strategic initiatives. Prior to TexProtects, Suzie held senior leadership positions at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and Momentous Institute. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University (TCU) and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. Outside of work, Suzie is actively involved in the PEO Philanthropic organization and serves on the board of directors for Visionary STEM Academy.
Suzie’s favorite place in Texas is New Braunfels, primarily because it’s where many of her family members reside. The town holds a treasure trove of cherished memories for her, whether it’s savoring delicious German meal at Krause’s Cafe or enjoying a float down the river. Every visit to New Braunfels guarantees a delightful time!
Kitty Surve serves as the Director of Partnerships and Community Impact at TexProtects. She joined the organization in March 2021 with a focus on spearheading the incubation and expansion of Family Connects, a postpartum home visiting initiative in North Texas. With over two decades of experience as an HR strategy expert, Kitty is dedicated to crafting enduring people and culture frameworks. Her expertise extends globally, encompassing the establishment of organizational structures across Asia, Africa, and the United States. Kitty holds a Master of Business Administration from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) in Pune, India, and a second Master’s degree in Sociology from Hyderabad Central University in Hyderabad, India. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in Cognitive and Health Sciences. Beyond her professional pursuits, Kitty engages in volunteer work, particularly in supporting refugee families in the Vickery Meadows area of Dallas.
The wildflowers of Texas hold a special place in Kitty’s heart. From the striking bluebonnets that blanket the countryside in spring to the fiery Indian paintbrushes that adorn roadsides in summer, these blooms create a kaleidoscope of colors that lifts her spirit. Each bloom seems to tell a story of resilience and beauty and she’s reminded of the importance of savoring life’s simple pleasures and finding joy in the small wonders around us.
Brittani Trusty joined the TexProtects team in 2024 and serves as the Director of Development and Impact. Her passion for advocacy drives her commitment to creating positive change and ensuring the well-being of all Texans. With extensive experience in public service, she previously served as the Senior Director of Community Impact at The Dallas Foundation, where she worked from 2013 to 2024. Prior to her time at The Dallas Foundation, Brittani worked at The Meadows Foundation, the Texas Legislative Budget Board, and the Texas Criminal Justice Policy Council. Brittani holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Stephen F. Austin University.
Brittani’s favorite place in Texas is nestled along any river in the Texas Hill Country, providing a serene escape from the scorching heat of Texas summers. There’s something magical about the tranquil waters flowing through the rugged landscapes where she can truly unwind, and recharge.
Emily is responsible for leading and executing TexProtects’ public policy agenda at the local and state levels. Her primary focus is to advocate and educate on behavioral health and trauma and the intersection between the two. As a former ward of the state, Emily has had personal experience with the child welfare system. Since 2016, Emily has used her voice through speaking engagements throughout Texas to uplift youth who currently and have formerly experienced the system. She believes that first and foremost we should aim to protect children from abuse and neglect and to ensure that they receive the best standard of care when we cannot.
