Milestone
2004: TexProtects is established as the advocacy division for the Prevent Child Abuse Texas chapter and housed at The Dallas Foundation.

Milestone
2006: TexProtects brings the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) to Texas with financial investment from The Dallas Foundation and Dallas County for 100 mothers.

Legislative Win
2007: Landmark legislation passed the NFP Act, which provided a state investment of $7.9 Million to scale home visiting to 900 mothers.

2008: Founded the Child Protection Roundtable, a statewide consortium of over 80 leading child-protection organizations.

2009: Secured $17.8 million in funding for Nurse-Family Partnership.

2011: Legislation passed requiring the expansion of school policies/training on child sexual abuse and other signs of maltreatment.

2013: Landmark legislation, the Texas Home Visiting Expansion and Accountability Act, passed to scale programming to more than 5,000 families.

2015: Secured $25 million in funding to launch the Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Intervention Support (HOPES) program.

2016: Funding secured to provide Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworkers a $12,000 salary increase to improve outcomes and workforce stability.

2017: Legislation was passed to provide financial assistance to relatives of children in the CPS system to prevent entry into foster care. View report.

2017: Successfully advocated to better reimburse kinship caregivers who were providing care to children in state custody.

Texas Prevention Network
Program Launch: originally established by TexProtects as the Texas Home Visiting Consortium in 2012, relaunched in 2024, creating a platform for all organizations in our state that engage in preventing child abuse and neglect to connect with and learn from each other.
