Report Abuse and CPS Issues

In times of stress and hardship, like the COVID-19 pandemic, rates of child abuse and neglect rise, despite a lower number of cases being reported. In a recent statement TexProtects CEO Sophie Phillips reminded Texas that now, more than ever, is the time to keep our eyes on our most vulnerable children.

“In times of social isolation and shelter in place orders, abuse may be further hidden and make abusive situations more dire,” Phillips said. “As citizens, communities and leaders, we have a responsibility now more than ever to step up and be sensitive and responsive to the needs of parents and families to prevent and mitigate whatever potential increased risk we anticipate given the additional stressors on individuals, families and systems.”

More on how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting child abuse and neglect cases.

Every adult in Texas is a mandated reporter of child abuse and neglect, so if you suspect maltreatment, please report it.

TexProtects fights child abuse and neglect on a legislative level. We do not handle individual cases. Please see below for information on how to report child maltreatment and issues with Child Protective Services.
