The Texas Prevention Network, originally established by TexProtects as the Texas Home Visiting Consortium in 2012, has relaunched in 2024, creating a platform for all organizations in our state that engage in preventing child abuse and neglect to connect with and learn from each other. Open to all providers that have a role in preventing child maltreatment, the network facilitates peer-to-peer connections, hosts educational and learning sessions, facilitates resource sharing, and disseminates updates from relevant state agencies and others engaged in this work. This Network fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange among the professionals across our state that are dedicated to the well-being of children and families in each of our communities.
About the Network
The Texas Prevention Network meets virtually every other month. The meeting agendas are crafted carefully and include:
- Spotlights on a range of communities, programs and providers throughout the state to elevate best practices and innovative approaches. To facilitate knowledge sharing between communities, the Network highlights programs that effectively braid and blend public funding streams, address community or organizational challenges, and elevate successes.
- Expert speakers on educational issues elevated by the Network such as compassion fatigue, cultural sensitivity, elevating parent stories to demonstrate impact, and effectively connecting families to resources through enhanced referral systems
- State updates from state agencies including the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- An opportunity for providers to network, elevate and address common challenges, ask each other questions, etc.
- Updates on potential funding and other opportunities of shared interest.
